Carita Bengs

Carita Bengs is, since 2009, head of department. She obtained her doctor's degree in Sociology in 2000 on the thesis "Looking Good. A study of gendered body ideals among young people". Her main areas of interests are sociology of the body, gender, medical sociology, ageing and disability. She is currently working with a project on body, gender, emotions, health and depression in later life. Another recent project studied gendered constructions of depression in newspapers and popular media. She teaches courses in Qualitative Methods and Medical Sociology.
